The father of the Selle Francais bred Mister Hornet DDH needs no introduction. After his successful career with Marco Kutscher, Cornet Obolensky (by Clinton x Heartbreaker) has sired one top jumper after another. Cornet d’Amour, Cornado I, Coree, Cornet du Lys, Comme il Faut: the list with Grand Prix jumpers is infinite. With approved sons as the already mentioned Comme il Faut, Cornet du Lys, Balou du Reventon and Maestro van de Bisschop he has secured his reputation as sire.
What makes Mister Hornet very interesting is the combination of Cornet Obolensky and a great French damline. His mother Arnacquine du Mesnil jumps 1.40 in the USA and gave a 1.30 horse. Her father is the Jarnca son Quarnac du Mesnil, successful at the 1.50 level. The grandmother of Mister Hornet, a daughter of 1.40 jumper Billy de Baugy, gave several international showjumpers, such as Kysia du Mesnil who jumped with good results at the Grand Prix level. The Grand Prix horses Gran Mamut, Azilis du Mesnil, Bugatti du Lys and the approved stallion Django du Lys also come from the same damline.
Mister Hornet typifies himself as a very cooperative stallion with a great attitude. His canter is light-footed with a lot of balance. On the jump he shows a great technique with very well use of his body, and is quick off the ground. That in combination with carefulness and unlimited scope makes him a very complete jumper. During the performance test of the KWPN he scored great marks, with no less than a 9 for his talent as a showjumper.
